Also, Iran and the US hardened their grip on the Strait of Hormuz as Tehran moved forward to form its control over it. On the other hand, US troops will land in the upcoming hours at the Hormuz in the Islamic Republic. Probably, Iran is going to implement a “de facto toll booth”; that means some ships from China have to pay a toll while crossing the waterways. Tehran already refused the US proposal for a ceasefire.
Thursday; 8:35 PM: An Israeli official said on Thursday that Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, was killed in a strike in Bandar Abbas. The Times of Israel quoted the official as saying that Tangsiri “was responsible for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz“.
Because of this, oil prices went up a lot. With Iran and the US both making conflicting statements about the peace plan, oil prices jumped about 2%, with Brent futures rising 2.03% to $104.30 per barrel. At the same time, the price of US West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures rose 2.14 percent to $92.25 per barrel.
